Hamed Sanei is a Professor of Organic Petrology and Geochemistry, as well as the Director of the Lithospheric Organic Carbon Laboratory (LOC) in the Department of Geoscience at Aarhus University. He earned his PhD from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. Previously, he held the position of Senior Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada and served as the President of The Society for Organic Petrology (TSOP). He has pioneered novel methods to quantify carbon permanence in biochar, including the development of inertinite benchmarking and advanced thermochemical methods that link carbon structure to stability over time.
