Hassan Sachedina

Originally from Kenya, Hassan is a career conservationist with 28 years’ experience including 15 years’ experience at an executive level in the nature-based carbon markets. He helped to pioneer the development of large-scale forest carbon projects in Africa including building Africa’s largest forest carbon project in terms of people (225k) and hectares (1.2 million) impacted. This project (LCFP) has twice been named as best carbon offsetting project in the world by Environmental Finance. He has helped to build 11 nature-based carbon projects to date which are verified or in development covering 18 million hectares. These projects are designed to reduce 1 billion tons of emissions life of project and to impact 12 million people. Hassan is the Founder and CEO of Sayari Earth, a nature-based carbon removals project developer with the mission to empower people to regenerate our planet. Prior to this, he founded and was CEO of BCP (BioCarbon Partners), one of the world’s leading forest carbon project developers. In 2022, Hassan was recognized as one of the top 10 impact CEO’s in the world in the Momentum 100 rankings. Hassan has a PhD from Oxford University, and an MBA from HEC Paris. He also holds a Certificate in Management Excellence from Harvard Business School. His scientific work has been published in various journals, including: Ecosystem Services, Oryx, Conservation Biology, and Current Conservation. Hassan is also a licensed commercial helicopter and airplane pilot.
